Over the next few weeks the Girls Basketball Program will be shining the spotlight on our five seniors as they wrap up their careers!
Senior Spotlight: #3 Ellie Madison
What are some of your academic and athletic accomplishments?
“Being a student-athlete is something I am very proud of, especially maintaining good grades while participating in multiple sports. I am currently holding a 4.3 GPA. I have received the “Arnie Chonko” Scholar Athlete award in both cheerleading and basketball since my freshman year for maintaining a 4.0+ GPA. I have also made the all-GLC academic team in both cheerleading and basketball since my sophomore year. I received all-GLC second team my sophomore year and all-GLC first team my junior and senior year in cheerleading.”
What are your plans after high school?
“After high school I plan on attending Capital University to continue my education in Emerging Media Marketing.”
What is your favorite memory from basketball?
“I have a ton of amazing memories from basketball, not only during practices/games but in general with all of my amazing teammates. I had so much fun doing team bonding activities like going to Cedar Point and going out for team dinners after open gyms. But, when I look back onto my basketball career I know I’m going to love remembering how we beat Normandy and Forge at home to start off my senior year! Or even the funny memories like using pool noodles during practice. There’s so many hilarious memories I’m going to cherish for a long time after this season ends!”
Who do you admire most and why?
“The person I admire the most in my life would have to be my papou (grandfather). He is a perfect representation of the “American Dream” by his immigration to America from Greece to pursue a better life when he was just 19 years old. He has taught me how to work hard, and has shown me where hard work can get you in life.”
What are your hobbies and interests outside of basketball?
“Other than basketball, I enjoy doing things such as writing, spending time with my family and friends, and binge watching tik toks. I also cheer which consumes a lot of my time outside of basketball.”
If you could have one super power what would it be?
“If I could have one superpower, I would choose to be able to teleport so I have a chance to go more places around this beautiful Earth!”
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
“If I could travel one place in the world, I would choose to travel to Chios, Greece. I have yet to go and it is on my bucket list, not only for it’s beauty but also because it is where my family is from and I am so intrigued to see where my family began.”
If you could give a piece of advice to the younger kids in our program, what would it be?
“As a senior, one piece of advice I would like to give to younger kids is to BE INVOLVED! I have grown so much as a person by being involved in so many different sports and activities, and it has enhanced my life in high school in such a positive way. It’s how I met my closest friends and made some of my best memories. Join sports teams you have an interest in, join clubs to get more involved with the school and try new things! You’d be surprised at how much fun you can have.”
