Unfortunately spring sports are sitting idle until the pandemic shut down is lifted. Until we are back in action and making new memories, lets look back at some of the great moments and players in Redmen Sports History!
Today, we rewind to 2013 when the Redmen softball team beat Normandy 9-5 to clinch the Conference Championship!
Parma took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Tayler Agosto led off the inning with a single. Pinch runner Krystal DeLuca scored after a sacrifice bunt by Shannon Vecchio who crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice by Savannah Howell. Normandy knotted it up in the fourth. Parma bounced right back and scored 4 in the top of the fifth. Brittany Humbel hit her third homerun of the season. Soon after, Agosto and Becca McKissick each singled and Kaitie Siegel walked to load the bases for Allyson Ludwig who walked her way to an RBI. Then McKissick and Siegel scored on a single by Courtney Sabo.
However, errors on the Redmen allowed Normandy to tie the game in the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh, Ludwig recorded the game winning hit, which drove in Howell and Siegel. Allie Scali added two extra runs a double as well. Getting the win in the circle for the Redmen was Brittany Humbel who allowed just 4 hits and struck out 10.
Humbel went on to win Conference Pitcher of the Year. Scali went on to win Conference position player of the year and Coach Brown won Conference Coach of the Year. What a great game and season for our Lady Redmen Softball team!
