Senior Spotlight on: Mary Thomas

When did you start running?

-Seventh grade was my first year of competitive running.

What other activities are you involved in at Parma Senior High?

-In addition to Cross Country, I run Track and I am in the National Honor’s Society.

Athletic career honors?

-My personal record in Cross Country is 22:24. During Track, I run the 4×4, 4×8, 400, and my best event is the 800 with a personal record of 2:29.  Multiple player of the week honors over my running career.

Favorite memory during your athletic career?

-Going to district’s in 2018-19 has been my most fond memory over my athletic career.  I worked hard to overcome anxiety to compete at my best.

Do you have any superstitions or pre-game routines before meets?

-I cannot split poles!

What is your plan after graduation?

-I am going to continue my education at college in the field of Dentistry.  I will also compete in Cross Country and Track at the college level.

What has been your favorite class?

-I love Mrs. Deeks and her Art class has been my favorite!

Outside of school, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

-Watching Netflix and going to the beach are both preferred ways to spend my time.

What are 3 fun facts about you?

  1. I can teach others to ride a bike
  2. I have a great sense of humor
  3. I am a baby whisperer

Any advice for underclassmen?

-Do not let your fear of failure stop you from competing!
