Girls Varsity Basketball · Sophomore, Lea Holmes, Breaks School Record for Blocks in a Season

Sophomore Center, Lea Holmes, has broken the school record for blocks in a season.  Lea surpassed the old record of 93 with her 6 blocked shots Wednesday evening against the Lakewood Rangers to put her season total at 96.  Lea has also tied the school record for blocks in a game this season when she amassed 11 blocked shots against Fairview High School earlier this year.

The records for blocks in a game and blocks in a season were both held by former Parma standout Jackie Konieczka who is a 2006 Parma graduate who went on to play in college at Niagara University.  Konieczka had 93 blocks in the 05-06 season and she had 11 blocked shots in one game in the 02-03 season.

Lea is currently leading the Northeast Ohio area in blocked shots at 6.0 BPG.  Lea has also done a phenomenal job of rebounding the basketball, and as of last week was ranked 2nd in the Northeast Ohio area with 11.5 RPG.

Congratulations, Lea!
