Redmen News · Redmen Swimmers compete at Sectionals

The Parma Redmen Swimmers competed at Sectionals yesterday at Wooster OH. Overall we had some very fast swims and the team recorded 42 personal best times. Leading the way were Senior Captain Dominic Gallo and Junior Alex Costello. Dominic was 3rd in the afternoon session in the 100 Breaststroke earning him a spot at Districts with the 27nd seed. Alex finished 14th in the 100 backstroke in the evening session and he claimed the final spot at Districts with the 30th seed. Alex was also .6 seconds away from the school record and will have one more shot at taking it down next Saturday at Spire.

Sectionals was also the final meet for Seniors Captains Kim Brenizer and Danierys Rodrigues, Alana Friscone and Rylie Moldovan. All of our Senior swimmers had great swims yesterday. Thank you for all of your hard work this year. You will be missed.

The year we had many challenges and it has not been easy. I am incredibly proud of all our swimmers and you should be proud of yourselves. We finished the season with a combined 15 wins and 9 losses which is the best combined finish in my seven years of coaching. We had our best combined finish at GLC’s and we are sending two swimmers to Districts, something that we have not done since 2015. Sectionals is always a challenging meet. I hope our new swimmers can use yesterday as a learning experience and motivation to improve for next season.
