Wednesday’s Matchup vs. Valley Forge High School was a night of celebration for the Parma Girls Basketball Senior Class on their Senior Night. Seniors Elise Balcer, Mary Chulock, Shannon Chamberlin, Brianna Ghann, and Taylor Rericha got the start for the Lady Redmen. The Redmen got off to a hot start that saw Rericha score 12 of her 13 points in the first quarter as the Redmen jumped out to a 18-7 first quarter lead. The Patriots of Valley Forge battled back in the second quarter and cut the Redmen lead to 5 with a 28-23 halftime score. The Patriots came out in the second half and outscored the Redmen 22-12 in the third quarter to take a 45-40 lead into the 4th quarter. The Patriots pushed their lead to 8 points before Elise Balcer hit her sixth and school record seventh three pointer of the game to draw the Redmen to within two with under a minute to play. The Redmen just couldn’t get the needed stops down the stretch to pull out the victory on Senior Night as they fell to the Patriots 58-53.

Leading the Redmen was Elise Balcer with a career high 22pts and 5asts and breaking the school record for threes in a game with 7, previously held by teammate So. Amaris DeJesus and 2016 Graduate Erin Bukach who each had 6 in a game. Rericha added 13pts, 7rebs, 6stls, and 5asts. Mary Chulock added 6pts and Shannon Chamberlin chipped in 3pts.

The Redmen are back in action this Saturday as they travel to take on Garfield Heights with a 12:30PM tip-off.
