The Redmen (10-8, 7-6) traveled to Valley Forge (8-10, 5-9) to take on the Patriots in a GLC Matchup. The Redmen got off to a hot start fro the tip where Jacobs won the jump ball and tipped it to Mahogany Cottingham for an easy 2 point lead. Two possessions later Cottingham got a layup to go in the lane. On the next possession Jacobs hit Radulov on a basket cut for a layup and an early 6-0 lead that led to a Forge timeout. The Redmen kept rolling out of the timeout behind two straight three’s from Radulov, two more three’s from DeJesus and a three from Zanin to take a 23-5 lead into the second quarter.

The Redmen cooled off a little bit in the second quarter and Valley Forge settled into the game a little bit. Three’s by Zanin and DeJesus late in the second quarter gave the Redmen a 34-9 lead before the Patriots went on a 9-0 run to end the first half. The Redmen went into the locker room with a 34-17 lead.

The third quarter was a back and forth affair, the Patriots came out early hitting a pair of three pointers to cut the Redmen lead to 11 points. Cottingham hit one of her two three’s in the quarter from the wing to push the lead back to 14. Cottingham had 10 of her 14 points in the quarter.

Early in the 4th quarter the Patriots were able to go on a 10-2 run to cut their deficit to 7 points with about 5:00 minutes left to play in the game. From this point on offense was hard to come by for either team as each team scored just 2 points the rest of the way to finish the game with a 53-46 final.

The Redmen JV team also won their 3rd game in a row as they beat the Patriots 44-36. Leading the Redmen JV’s was Lea Holmes with 16 points, Madison Nyiran with 10 points including 6 late free throws to secure the win, and Tatiana Dinardo with 9 points.

The Lady Redmen will be back in action this Wednesday, February 5, 2020 as they host Fairview in a GLC Matchup. The Freshmen will host Westlake that evening. Freshmen tip-off at 4:30PM, JV will tip at 6:00PM, and Varsity to follow at 7:30PM. We will also be recognizing our Middle School teams that evening at halftime of the Varsity game.
